Hi Davin

this Sanyo 3000 is amazing.  I watched Ronin (B-Ray Disc) last night with great action scenes, dark scenes and fast moving sequences and the picture quality was very sharp.

Am particularly impressed with the degrees of black/grey and shadows and the detail that remains within it - for a projector that equals a large Plasma/LCD, its just amazing.

Thanks on your advice on the Sanyo vs Epson.  Am enjoying it immensely.

Subject: great service

Hi Davin/Store owner/CEO,

I would just like to write to, regarding my recent interaction and eventual purchase from your store.
my experience has been one of total satisfaction, great service, fantastic advice, speedy and very efficient service.
Davin answered, ( I believe to be totally honestly!.. a rare find in it's self!), all my questions, and was very proffesional and extremely helpful. That would have been enough for me to make a purchase from your store, but to top it off, your store was EXTREMELY compettitive on my SANYO projector, and addeded accessories! At no time did I feel like i was being pushed towards a product by a sales person, or pushed towards a product that you maybe overstocked of! or are looking to get rid of! or make the most profit out of !
Sometimes due to the nature of the products or the VALUE/COST of the products, we prefer face to face contact, but due to the professionalism, great advice, efficient service, prompt reply to emails/phone calls, and very compettive pricing, that it was no problem to purchase such items without direct face to face contact.
I infact will be definately telling all my friends to check out your site and make contact with you guys regarding any electronic goods they maybe after.
thank you once again for providing such a great service.
              Kind Regards
              Aneek Mollah

P.S. My Sanyo Z3000 is fantastic, is better than I thought, and is exactly as Davin described it to be, in one word it is "SENSATIONAL" and "BREATHTAKING".. well that's two words !! LOL!

Warning about gray market Sanyo projectors. If the company is not buying from Sanyo Australia they import the projectors, (now second hand) there is no Australian warranty no matter what they say. "..Z3000 is the least expensive home theater
projector on the market to offer this capability.
."

The Sanyo PLV-Z3000 review features ‘Dynamic Predictive Frame Interpolation Technology’ that utilizes speeds of 120Hz*1 in the industry’s first*2 5:5 pull-down*3 mode for incredibly smooth video projection even for scenes with intense motion, a super high contrast ratio of 65,000:1 allowing jet-black color reproduction, and a whisper-quiet cooling fan at 19-decibels*4 permitting viewers to hear even the most quiet and sensitive scenes.

With all these features and many more ‘standard’ features, such as the industry’s most advanced lens shifting*5 functions among others.

Sanyo Z-3000 Main review Features

- Jet-black color reproduction with new optical engine with additional optical compensating plate minimizes polarized light leakage, increasing contrast ratio

- Equipped with new variable iris featuring a lamp-light volume controlling mechanism that can control lens iris adjustment every 1/60th of a second

- Lens designed to permit fast acting lens adjustment, adjusting to optimal levels automatically

- Deeper, more dynamic black color reproduction is made possible with new lens

- Iris noise has been reduced for more enjoyment of silent or quiet scenes

Super-quiet, 19-decibel fan

- Large aperture, whisper-quiet yet efficient Sirocco cooling fan *4

- Fan keeps projector cool and runs quietly, at only 19-decibels*4

- Movie-watchers lose themselves in the movie with the lack of ‘real-world’ noise

Z 3000 - Achieves incredible 120Hz display speed*1;

- Industry’s first*2 5:5 pull-down mode*3

- Most recent, 120Hz super-fast Full HD panel built-in

Z3000

  • From our testing the Sanyo Z3000 120Hz frame interpolation works exactly as it should, making action scenes smoother and more life-like. A similar feature on Epson TW4000 does not seem to work as well and it's often better to turn the option off on the Epson TW4000. While we don't know for sure, our educated guess is there is a bug in the interpolation algorithm Epson use (we trust they will address it) whereas Sanyo have nailed it first time.
  • We'd be interested in your feedback. -- AIM

5:5

- Increased smoothness in videos due to doubled frame rate from 60 frames/second to 120 frames/second*1 using interpolation frame generation technology from built-in super-fast image processing LSI

  • - Reduction of afterimage effects through dynamic predictive frame interpolation technology- Accurately projects contents in originally in 24p with industry’s first*1 5:5 pull-down mode*3

- Compatible with various television digital broadcasting, allowing the feeling and enjoyment of the movie theater for everyday broadcast programming

Z3000

PLV - Z 3000 Home Cinema projector by Sanyo.

In a nut shell

  • This is the best combination of features and specifications you can get for your money.
  • Some may claim slightly higher contrast ratio (CR) but that's splitting hairs as they all mislead you about contrast ratio. |Learn more|
D7 LCD projectors use the same LCD engines so the more realistic contrast measurement (ANSI) is always very similar. Native CR (What the LCD panels can do) would be the same.
  • The Z3000 120Hz frame is far more important than CR in terms of smooth images.
  • No others offer the dust fighting features, dust is the biggest killer of projectors. If dust still gets in you can blow it out without a service call.
  • Lens shift and zoom is the industry leader. Put almost anywhere in room.
  • Great 3 year warranty, including the lamp. Made in Japan.
  • Unlike Single Chip DLP projectors there is no spinning colour wheel and no DLP rainbows |Learn more| which in our opinion makes it easier on the eyes. Some say "..I've never seen a DLP rainbow.." Most have they just thought it was part of the movie!
  • Supports Deep Colour & x.v.Color mode offering a much expanded colour gamut. |Learn more| Others tell you you don't need it, but that's only if they don't have it!
  • The low fan noise is not gained by using a larger case it's done by using a better fan.

"..Coming from the Z4 this is a huge difference. I can watch this with a light on in the room, the room is 16x30. Before calibrating it I could see the black bars on top and bottom of the movies, now I don't see them, they are as black as the movie.

I was watching Indy Jones yesterday and as the credits rolled it was black on black. With the Z4 you could always see the bars no matter how much brightness and contrast changes.

I keep saying to the wife that this image should be illegal and those who say there is no difference between 720p and 1080p should look again.

I am extremely happy with this projector.."

"..On the other hand, Sanyo has a longer warranty and the dust blower system. If you get dust blobs 2.9 years after you buy it, I'd rather not send it in for repair! That's a great, great feature and is almost the deal breaker against the Epson (or anyone else).."

"..Well I finally had a chance to put some serious time in watching my Z3000 this weekend. I watched 2 games on sunday from Directv in HD.

All I can say is it was UNBELIEVABLE!!! It looked so 3D even my wife was amazed.

I cannot imagine a picture getting any sharper, crisper or clearer than this. I am projecting onto a 110" Stewart studiotek 130 screen. I used the Dynamic mode, and then tuned down the color from +8 to a +4 and it was awesome. Like watching a 110" plasma screen, I am in a dedicated theater room with 0 ambient light. I had almost 1000 hours on my old sony Pearl projector and nothing that projector ($3400) displayed came even close to this picture..

"..Had my Z4 about 2,5 years. And I was very satisfied with it. But now as I see the Z3000 in 1080p it is another world. The difference between 720p and now 1080p is really huge. I didn`t believe it.

The picture is much more sharp and some things look like you can grab it with your hands. I saw Kung Fu Panda on my Z4 and I thought the quality was really good.

Now I saw it again and I was blown away Now can really see every hair, every detail and much more things than before. I don`t want to have my Z4 back. Never. With Z4 the quality was very good, but now it`s absolutely outstanding.."

"..It was a difficult descision between the Z3000 and AE3000 for me. But, after reading the PC comparison between the two, I decided on the Z3000 and ordered this morning.
My main reasons:
- Fan noise is very important for me
- Asthetics. The Z3000 looks nicer than the AE3000
- Warranty. Not having had a projector with a dynamic iris before, I am a little worried about their lifespan...
Slightly less important reasons for me:
- Dust removal system
- slight sharpness advantage
- When watching 1080p/24FPS, I think I prefer to know that only half of the frames I am seeing are being made up by the projector even if the AE3000 might produce a smoother picture on the most demanding (badly filmed) content.."

|AVS Official forum| (Note prices may be in US $)
Note some Z3000 reviews were done with pre-production models, just as in the case as Epson TW4000 there can be small problems that get ironed out when the projectors go into full production. We have not seen reports (or noticed on our demo models) any problems with the production Sanyo PLV Z3000. Our company director has one at home and just like the comments above he said it's awesome!

"..A key advantage of the Z3000 is its low street price and industry-leading 3-year warranty. Sanyo always seems to deliver extraordinary value for the money, and the Z3000 is currently selling in the low $2,000's (US Dollars) and it is an excellent value for that amount.

If you've got a bigger budget, more money will buy you some small increments in contrast, as well as features such as powered zoom/focus lenses and incrementally more comprehensive frame interpolation capability.

But the bottom line is that for not a lot of money you get a bright, beautiful, rich 1080p picture with a unique 5:5 pulldown option. You also get frame interpolation that helps clean up a lot of sources should you wish to activate it, and the Z3000 is the least expensive home theater projector on the market to offer this capability.

Sanyo has produced another winner in value, and the PLV-Z3000, to nobody's surprise, is certain to earn a good share of the 1080p home theater projector market. . "

3LCD  No Rainbows

The rainbow effect that may be seen only on 1-chip sequential color projection systems (DLP) is the result of a rotating color wheel that spins at a rapid speed and displays colors sequentially.

Viewers who perceive this blurring or separating of colors may find it annoying and distracting. Projectors powered by 3LCD technology have 3-chips and a solid state optical design so there is no color breakup or rainbow effect. |More about DLP rainbows|

Smooth, seamless color combined with an unparalleled grayscale range delivers incredible detail to every image displayed by a 3LCD projector. Grayscale is the shades of gray (from black to white) required for greater image depth and detail; it allows greater variation in shadows and brings superior accuracy to color, creating a jaw-dropping, true-to-life visual experience.
