SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO), a world leader in presentation technologies, announces the sale of a high resolution projector that has achieved the industry's highest brightness, 6,500 lumens, in the portable-class, single-lamp LCD projector category - the LP-XP100L - available starting from August 1.
This year, SANYO has already announced the sale of two projectors: the industry's brightest LCD large-size projector model, the LP-XF47 (capable of 15,000 lumens), and a small-size projector that changes the way people view projectors with the ultra-short focus lens model, the LP-XL50 (capable of projecting an 80-inch screen from a mere 8 cm). On this occasion, SANYO announces the newest member of its line-up with a mid-size, portable-class projector, equipped with SANYO's proprietary new high brightness optical engine, the LP-XP100L, which is capable of an impressive 6,500 lumens with only a single lamp. Additionally, the projector houses an on-board active maintenance filter system, which improves durability and ease-of-maintenance, perfect for the large meeting rooms/meeting hall, digital signage, seminar and business presentation, and education market segments.
SANYO, through expanding its mid-range projector line-up, will be able to provide new and exciting solutions for offices, digital signage (electronic advertising), and large presentation meetings.
SANYO is committed to continuously providing new solutions by openly employing its propriety technologies in creative ways, based on its global Brand Vision 'Think GAIA'.
With only one lamp, the LP-XP100L has achieved the industry's highest brightness*1 in its class with 6,500 lumens through the use of a new optical engine that has the industry's best optical efficiency*2. Compared with conventional projectors*4 of similar brightness, the new LP-XP100L has approximately halved the amount of power consumption, using only 490 watts, while being nearly twice as optically efficient. With brightness close to multiple-lamp use large model projectors, this single-lamp projector can be used in many diverse settings, such as classrooms, event halls, and meeting rooms.

Review
"..There
is also no question that the brighter
the image, the more tolerant one is
of ambient light; the Sanyo is certainly
the champ in this case. For critical
viewing, however, I would recommend
a darkened room for viewing any front
projector, regardless of its brightness,
because the screen will reflect the
ambient light the same way it reflects
the light from the projector.
Out
of the box, Id say The PLV-70
was perhaps a bit too bright, given
its real world contrast ratio and
grayscale tracking, but that is clearly
a matter of opinion. A gray screen,
like the Stewart Grayhawk, would certainly
help. I would however stay away from
any screen above 1.0 gain, using this
projector.
The
point is that with 2,200 Lumens (and
it really has 2,200 Lumens), the PLV-70
is a very versatile projector. It
can be used to fill a very large screen
(assuming you had a very large room),
or can be tweaked to perfection while
still giving an image with a brightness
that would put most all other projectors
at a similar price to shame. Okay,
so maybe I havent completely
turned from a black level connoisseur
to a brightness freak, but I certainly
have a more balanced view after experiencing
the PLV-70..." -- Review
"..The
Sanyo PLV-70 is not just a home-theatre
projector but also perfectly suited
to the boardroom. With motorised zoom
and focus, a digital zoom for magnifying
images, true XGA (1024x768 pixel)
resolution in 4:3 mode and optional
network management capabilities, this
projector will impress in the most
advanced boardrooms."
