Why use us? Because we REALLY keep stock!
Review on shopping comparison engines.
Our review of the problem basically comes down to the old "Garbage-in-Garbage-Out" by that we mean the robots like shopbot often list data that is often a week or more old and/or simply wrong. It's not about just one engine like shopbot, many suffer from the same problems because there as some many web sites that simply re-list data from distributors without knowing if it's correct. 11/09/08 the data is often confused! Because there are more shops than actual stock they can't all have everything in stock (unlike what you're often led to believe) this also means if two people buy the last item one will miss out but both will pay for it. Then you may have a long fight to get your monay back! |Our policy| "..policy is a refund will be given AFTER A MONTH"!! I live in Melbourne and have been ringing Gamedude every week with no avail on getting my refund even though I can buy the unit somewhere else for $25 more.." You really have to check the facts!
In the above example they don't have stock so how can they sell it? It turns out the don't. We have 3, oops we mean none! (shopbot.com.au example)
Looking at the stock on the 13th June 08 you'd think you could buy a C525 printer? After all THEY have 3 in stock.. They never had any in stock they had a list that was out of date from a distributor.
We sent an e-mail asking is that correct rather than just placing an order as you may have, the site now states "stock shortage" however had you ordered it you would not have been supplied! The 2nd listing for $389.63 simply does not list it when you try to purchase, which is better than taking your money and having to chase them for a refund.
If you had to chase a company for an order they can't supply this could happen: "I proceded to order. I had to myslef ring 3 days later to get confimation of order although to my amazement I was told non were in stock. I asked for my refund ASAP only to be rudely responded with the remark "Gamedude's policy is a refund will be given AFTER A MONTH"!! I live in Melbourne and have been ringing Gamedude every week with no avail on getting my refund even though I can buy the unit somewhere else for $25 more. Its been three weeks and Im still fighting to get my refund of $175." |Source| You really need to contact most www sellers BEFORE you place an order. Check refund conditions too. -- AIM

We don't process your card unless we have the stock at our warehouse, know for sure we can get it for you or it's a special order like a rare lamp or something custom made. This also gives us time to do a security check. Most others do it the other way around. That's why we keep most popular items in stock at OUR warehouse. Web cameras (Click on image)
Back to the story.. The bot's data is often supplied by the e-tailers who in turn get it from the distributor without being able to check it as they can't see the stock or manufacturers invoices. This is why if you hold stock you're in a much better position to supply at the quoted price. Another example below where a client said to us "I can buy that $200 cheaper", we couldn't see how because the price was below our true cost plus we buy in bulk on the item. When you looked at the Bot's listing none had it in stock, (which is common for "Box movers") however if you were willing to wait could you may still get it cheaper than us? No. In this example the data which is the basis of the listing (from one distributor) was wrong. This means if you placed an order on the 25th you would wait only to find out that they couldn't supply at the listed price. It took over two weeks for this error to filter through all the copy cat data sites but you could have been forgeven for placing an order expecting it at the listed price. We tested one supplier only to be told "Sorry no stock" hoping we would go away, pushing the point and willing to wait could we still get it at their published price? No "That was an error". This type of error happens a lot when you just move boxes and don't actually stock the product! "..Consumers and suppliers are playing pass the package Screen shots from shopbot.com.au 25th September 2007 The $1428.06 price and the others are WRONG!
26th September 2007 The $1428.06 price and the others are STILL WRONG! Lets click on the $1428.06 price and see what happens?
It turns out they don't have stock, the price is wrong and it's more than ours. Next day (27th) the error is starting to filter through but the shopbot is still wrong!
If you find a better Genuine deal please let us know [e-mail]
"OK I don't mind waiting for such a Answer = sorry that is an error! In other words this is yet another example of pie-in-the-sky pricing! If you find a better Genuine deal please let us know [e-mail] or call 1800 008899 Want more proof that you need to be cautious? If you're interested and got some time to kill try the following 2 links, (we could list hundreds just change the IP..) two different shops same stock numbers. Change the last digits of the address above to see more "Shops" Shopbot etc. would consider them as separate companies (they are) however if both have 2 items in stock and you place an order for one alone with 2 other people you have a one in three chance of paying but missing out on supply. (Till more stock comes in which could be days, weeks or months) "If two or more people buy the lot someone will miss out.." 24/10/07 Another one in trouble, would you give out your card?
According to press cworld owe suppliers around $4.7M What we find disturbing is (at the time of writing this) you could still place orders on-line for products they don't have (like most) however we don't think suppliers that are owed a fortune will supply (your order) unless their debt is paid first? So it's the old pay now and hope to get it later. We keep warning everyone this can't go on, competition is one thing but consumers and suppliers are playing pass the package and if you get caught when the music stops..
We write the reviews for you! The e-mail below mentions"DLP Rainbows" something we've told people about for years. Name: Adam I came across your site while doing a second round of research on projectors, and decided I'd take you up on your offer of advice. Heres my story. I have setup my garage as a home theatre, using a dvd player and a pc as the main input sources. A mate of mine does gyprocking, so with his help I have made up a projector screen that covers the garage door, and at 4:3 it is 123" diagonally. During the day I can get the room pretty dark also. So I had all this ready, and was using an old projector I had access to from my Church, but its old, and I was sick of returning it all the time. So I searched for a new projector. After a bit of research I bought the BenQ MP622, as I found reviews that said it was a solid machine with no rainbow effect. When it arrived, it lived up to the reviews.. almost. It was an awesome picture, amazing contrast, but the rainbow effect was so bad I got headaches. It could be that the projected image was so big, but the rainbows were awful. I rang BenQ and they basically said too bad, you bought a data projector, its built for data, not movies... I can't return the unit, so Im going to try to sell it in the trading post or something. So thats basically what has brought me to now. Hopefully you will be able to help me out here. Im a bit overwhelmed with all the options, and I'm probably one of those annoying customers who want lots of quality for not much price... Basically my budget doesnt really extend past $2000 (I picked up the MP622 for $1400). Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance See the full DLP Rainbow review here that's a possible reason why LCD is doing so well for many home cinema applications.
