While stocks last!

Bright, small & stylish!

When you've finished with business this projector offers a real cinema / Home Theatre alternative at a budget price. Take a look at this Epson W8 projector review.

The Epson EB-W8 is not as good as top line cinema projectors if you're just thinking of a cinema room.

Projectors like the Epson TW4000/Sanyo Z3000 will be better but for the price and the awesome picture the Epson W8 projects, some people may consider this dual use solution.

We think you'll be impressed with the W8 picture, especially if you're going to use it in a lounge/family room.

If you have a dedicated home theatre room you may like to consider the Epson TW3000/TW4000 (and similar) as they are designed for that job. If you're paying more be sure to get the latest features as some manufacturers are selling top line projectors missing such basic items as x.v.color + deep colour (HDMI 1.3 required).

The foot is on the other shoe if you're projecting data in a bright room, the Epson EB-W8 rules.

Just to be clear

We're not saying the Epson EB W8 is as good as home cinema models costing twice the price or more, especially if your intended use is just dedicated home cinema. Note the digital camera used does not do justice to the images, the 2nd EB-W8 image is slightly overexposed we put this down to the extra brightness of the W8.

Where you would notice the biggest difference is in very dark scenes, the more expensive projectors have better (or darker) blacks. Having said that look at a totally black screen on your LCD TV, it's not even close to black in a dark room.

If you have a medium amount of light in the room the black debate goes out the door, it then comes down to brightness and the more "lumens" the better. |see this CR review|

Don't worry too much about Contrast Ratio!

If on the other hand you're after a low cost general purpose projector that excels with data the W8 is worth a look. Best of all if you purchase a W8 from AIM then wish you'd purchased a dedicated cinema model you can return the W8 and trade up. (Subject to our "Be Happy" warranty conditions).

The rainbow effect that may be seen only on 1-chip sequential color projection systems is the result of a rotating color wheel that spins at a rapid speed and displays colors sequentially. Viewers who perceive this blurring or separating of colors may find it annoying and distracting. Projectors powered by 3LCD technology have 3-chips and a solid state optical design so there is no color breakup or rainbow effect.

Smooth, seamless color combined with an unparalleled grayscale range delivers incredible detail to every image displayed by a 3LCD projector. Grayscale is the shades of gray (from black to white) required for greater image depth and detail; it allows greater variation in shadows and brings superior accuracy to color, creating a jaw-dropping, true-to-life visual experience.

LCD technology surrounds us – HDTVs, PDAs, mobile phones, monitors, and more. With over 40 million 3LCD chips shipped worldwide for projection, this powerful and road-tested technology is the optimal way to achieve the sharpest and most beautiful images.
