The TW2000 (better model than the budget TW3000) is still available in limited numbers. This is a better value buy than the new more expensive TW4000. We're not saying it's as good as the TW4000 (most people won't be able to spot the difference) however you'll never find a bad word about it. There has never been talk about "Focus Shift/Drift" or any other inherent problem, it's almost bullet proof.
The TW2000 also comes with a full 3 year warranty that includes the lamp!

TW2000 Advantages over the TW3000:
Better warranty 3 years on projector and lamp vs. 2 years & 6 months on lamp.
(If you do a lamp in 3 years you're saving around $500!)
Better contrast ratio = Darker blacks
(You really notice it in Star Wars type movies)
Smaller Case = Not taking up as much room on your ceiling
(The TW 2000 looks way more sexy)
The TW3000 is really a low cost replacement for the entry level TW1000
(Still a great projector but built to a price i.e. lower noise by having a larger case..)
The Epson TW2000 is still on top (of the TW3000) not only in terms of specifications but looks also. The bottom projector (TW3000) is the ugly ducking! Newer, but you'd never know it from the design or lower specifications. It wasn't fair to put them in the same photo!
Forget CR or Contrast Ratio what does it do in real life? How does the picture look?
Testing the Epson TW-2000 vs. the Sanyo PLV-Z3000 review the (real) black levels are very close.
The Epson scored 1.1 vs. the Sanyo's .7* (which is the lowest we've seen).
The next nearest was 2.7 (lower the better) and that even looked black with ANY light on in the Cinema Room.
One lux is very low indeed. We think it's a good measure that everyone can understand, measuring the light output tells us how black the screen is when you have nothing but black projected. (In a dark room) You may have noticed your LCD TV is not really black when you turn off the lights, blacks can look a bit gray. You notice it the most when you have black bars either side or above below the program. The above projectors have such low light output in this case that we can't measure it on the screen so we take a Lux measurement 1m back from the lens. Lower the reading the better.
How bright is one lux?
100 lux is your average lounge room lighting, 350 lux is an fairly well lit office and 1000 lux is an overcast day.
Full daylight (not direct sunlight) = 15,000 lux.
The light was so low we could even look into the lens without going blind. -- AIM
